October 2026 – Off they go! Watch the moment our 2026 Grey Partridges officially went wild!

Grey Partridges are native British birds, but sadly they’re nowhere near as common as they once were. They’re now on the Red List of Birds of Conservation Concern, with collective conservation efforts happening across the country to increase their numbers.

Here at Incredible Eggs we are delighted to give schools located in selected parts of England the opportunity to become involved through our unique ‘Operation Grey Partridge’ hatching programme. You can see if your school is in an area where we are offering this experience and find out more by clicking here.

2026 Release

There comes a point in every Grey Partridge project when, after months of feeding them, checking them and making sure they have everything a young partridge could possibly require, it’s time to open the doors. This is the moment the whole project has been working towards. Those tiny chicks that started life in the classroom earlier this year are now grown, fully feathered and ready for life in the great British countryside. Here is one of those 2026 door-opening moments, superbly captured by Kate and Giles – we hope you enjoy watching it as much as we all did!

Remember last years Grey Partridge project?

We have exciting news to report – Michael recently spotted some familiar-looking faces wandering around the farm. They were adult Grey Partridges released as part of our project last year. That alone would make us happy, but they weren’t alone – they had babies! A fabulously enormous brood of young Grey Partridges, hatched in the wild and being raised by their parents!

This is particularly exciting, because it’s the part that really matters – birds released into the countryside, surviving, pairing up and producing the next generation themselves. And somewhere amongst the birds taking flight in the first video will hopefully be next year’s mums and dads.

So thank you to all who joined us for Operation Grey Partridge 2026 and to everyone involved in looking after the birds during the months between hatch and release. The project is achieving exactly what it set out to achieve, which is absolutely wonderful.
