November 2023 – Our new resources for British Science Week 2024!

British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths. It will take place between the 8th-17th of March in 2024, although many schools choose to participate outside of this timeframe. The theme for 2024 is ‘Time’. Schools and nurseries across the UK will be encouraging their young people to think about time, how it affects their lives and to explore science in the world all around them.

What educational resources will Incredible Eggs supply to support British Science Week’s 2024 theme of ‘Time’?

Hatching in a school or nursery setting is not only exciting, magical and unforgettable, it is also hugely educational when experienced in conjunction with quality resources. We’re passionate about education – and without wishing to ‘crow’, only the best will cock-a-doodle-do! (Sorry, couldn’t resist…)

We’re delighted to have been working once again with one of Bloomsbury Education’s best-selling children’s and teacher’s authors, Molly Potter, on a very special project!

We commissioned Molly to create bespoke British Science Week 2024 educational resources exclusively for those booking with Incredible Eggs – access to these are included in the hatching kit price and they are ready to download from our website now.

Our new resources focus on brilliant ways of exploring the theme of ‘Time’ in relation to the hatching kit experience. They offer a wealth of fantastic ideas to maximise learning…in true, inimitable Molly Potter style, of course!

The resources support the national curriculum and are tailored to EYFS, KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4. So whether you teach nursery, primary or secondary, there really is something for everyone!

We will issue a password once your booking has been confirmed and payment received – this password will grant access to all key stage areas.

Many teachers will already be familiar with Molly’s fantastic educational resources, with so many well-loved books and book series to her name. Below are some examples of Molly Potter’s books for teachers and children – you can see more by visiting her author page at Bloomsbury:  https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/author/molly-potter

What other science-based resources are supplied?

We have worked previously with Molly to create more general downloadable science-based resources. Each pack is carefully tailored to each key stage, from EYFS to Key Stage 2. These are in line with the requirements of the national curriculum.

EYFS

  • Activities before the kit arrives – ‘Yes, no and can’t really answer’ game
  • Activities to look at hatching – ‘From Egg to Chick/Duckling’: a story followed by a Q and A session
  • Activities to look at ducklings/chicks – describing words and observing using four senses
  • Activities to look at growing and changing – parents, baby and simple life-cycles
  • Activities to introduce habitats – considering different animal homes

Key Stage 1 – Working scientifically, animals including humans, living things and their habitat

  • Activities before the kit arrives – ‘Yes, no and can’t really answer’ game
  • Activities to look at hatching – ‘From Egg to Chick/Duckling’: a story followed by a Q and A session
  • Activities to look at ducklings/chicks – describing words, observing using four senses, what does a chick/duckling look like?
  • Activities to look at growing and changing and a simple look at reproduction – Parents and babies, life cycles, comparing different life cycles
  • Activities to introduce habitats – considering habitats, looking at one particular habitat, what a chick/duckling needs
  • Activities to introduce food chains

Key Stage 2 – Life Cycles

  • The focus of this educational pack is life cycles, which are explored quite extensively in a variety of different ways

And don’t forget to check out our downloadable educational posters! These vary in complexity and content to cover the science national curriculum requirements for EYFS to KS2 – and are guaranteed to instantly liven up those classroom walls! Science-based content includes:

  • Life cycles
  • Describing and comparing
  • Identification and naming
  • Classification and data presentation
  • Reproduction
  • Similarities and differences

Are there any other educational resources included in the kit price?

Yes! Our library is extensive and split into relevant key stages from EYFS to KS4, making it easy for teachers to access resources suitable for the particular age group they teach.

Find everything from step-by-step projects to create dazzling whole class displays, to educational fun and games, fantastic puzzles, wonderful worksheets…and so much more!

There are far too many to list here, but we’ll highlight just one wonderful example below, also created by Molly Potter.
